Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Overview

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, the latest take on MGS franchise, was created by Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the series. The game was released for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. In the main course of MGS universe, The Phantom Pain is settled after the events of  Peace Walker and Ground Zeroes. At the same time, it precedes the story of the very first Metal Gear, released at the end of 1987. Let`s talk a bit more about its distinct features of Metal Gear Solid V, which you can buy at a discount price in out store

Legacy in a Box

The fandom of MGS stretches over several generations, which means Kojima had to have in mind hopes of early fans, who played the original Metal Gear on MSX2 and then introduced their kids to the titles, as well as the expectations of the said kids. The bar was high for this chapter, and what we got differs significantly from the previous games. The game moved from action with advanced stealth mechanic to more military-inspired story, where violence seems inevitable, and you can’t hide from the fight in a cardboard box (which is back in this chapter, whew!)

The story

The plot of the game is focused on the series protagonist Snake, a special forces operative, who has to deal with military conflicts in Afghanistan and Angola. Snake’s main objective is to recreate the mercenary army he had lost during the events of Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes, but the most part of the journey he’ll make alone. The game starts with Snake waking up in the hospital after a coma. During the following events, the character won’t rest even for a bit — and neither will you, with all this heavy armoured thrill happening around.

Snake style

If you’re an old school fan of the series, you might remember that experience when you could go through the entire game without much killing. For example, in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater it was easy to be a silent pacifist: keep low profile, don’t let them spot you, take advantage of your uber-camouflage. The whole different story with The Phantom Pain. Here we act in a vast sandbox (literary — there are kilometers of desert landscapes around), and the task is to conquer  military bases with a one-man army. You’ll soon find out that using a single-shot tranquilizer handgun isn't always an option, as your enemies now wear armor with helmets on. From time to time, you have to make assault rifles, sniper rifles and RPGs do the talking. It’s not about stealth anymore — the huge change that brings completely new experience.

The game delivers astonishing experience to owners of any console it was released for, doing competitively good even on previous generation of Xbox and PS. Terrain, characters, physics and the cut-scenes are created with true love to series and extremely high graphic skill. No doubt, Hideo Kojima is a world-class professional, who opens new possibilities in the game development and graphic capabilities since early 90s.
